i’ve been waiting for you

I’m just not sure I ought to be reblogging Quark in a negligee.  It seems so …  wrong, somehow.

Or very right.

What’s happening with our industry is this [attitude] of ‘I’m not a writer, but I am in a position of power, and so you, as the writer, have to employ my notes.’ Star Trek did have more omnipotence. It was insulated from all of that. But I suppose it was just inevitable that this corporatization starts to erode. You just can’t do that.

If you run a restaurant, someone owns the building, right? But they have to trust the cooks to cook good food. But when the owner, who knows nothing about a kitchen, starts telling the cooks how to cook, your restaurant’s going to fail. This is what’s wrong. But the writers have no power to say ‘Get out of my kitchen.’
